Interview with Anthony Lombardi – Jerseylicious Season 2 Red Carpet Premiere

Anthony Lombardi and his wife Patty

Katie – How’s the Anthony Robert Salon going?

Anthony – Everything’s great! Busy! Thank God!

Katie – What changes are we going to see at the Gatsby this season?

Anthony – You’re pretty much going to see what you saw last season, only a little amped up a bit. You’re going to see some different alliances form. You may see a little clashing of the Titans maybe so to speak. You might see the teacher become the student in one of the episodes.

Katie – I heard that.

Anthony – You’re going to see a couple of different things. I’m the teacher but I might become the student for something. I can’t tell you what though.

Katie – Maybe you’re going to learn how to make pizza.

Anthony – Ya never know .

Katie – I think I just figured that one out.

Anthony – You’re off on that. You’re off but you’re close.

Anthony Lombardi & Filippo Giove

Katie – What is the biggest thing you’ve learned since your new found fame on “Jerseylicious”?

Anthony – I never realized that so many people watch TV. I’m glad for it. I’m loving the fact that we go out and get recognized. So far it’s all been fun.

Katie – Best advice you’ve gotten since being on the show?

Anthony – Keep it real. Remember who you are, remember who your friends are. The guy who taught me how to cut hair is here tonight. He’s fantastic.

Katie – What’s something that your fans would be surprised to know about you? Any weird tricks? Maybe you don’t know how to dance?

Anthony -  I don’t know how to dance! I’m not a good dancer. I would be the first one voted off of “Dancing with the Stars”.

Katie – I’d call in. I’d vote for you Anthony.

Katie – What’s it like to have your life on television? Do you regret putting anything out there?

Anthony – Absolutely not! It’s been a wonderful experience, the crew and the producers have been absolutely 100% perfect. They didn’t portray me in any different way. I couldn’t be happier with the way I come across on the television.

Katie – I agree. You are absolutely the same on TV as you are in person.

Interview with Gayle Giacomo– Jerseylicious Season 2 Red Carpet Premiere

Katie – A few people wrote me and wanted to ask a few questions.

@MrsMoNJ wants to know what are some safe products that pregnant women can use on their hair and face?

Gayle – I recommend Skinceuticals for their face. It’s a fabulous product and it would be the safest product. I also recommend Gatsby. We have all sulfate free shampoos and everything we have is great products, great hairspray and being pregnant you can use them.

Katie – What’s one of the biggest things you’ve learned since being on this show?

Gayle – It’s really been a very interesting thing to go through and I never thought I would ever have this opportunity. So I think everything I’ve been through is a learning experience.

Katie – I’m sure you’ve met a lot of celebrities since Jerseylicious aired. Who are your faves?

Gayle – Actually I really haven’t. I would love to meet Sarah Jessica Parker from Sex & the City. I love her style , to me that would be the ultimate.

Katie – We need to get her into the salon.

Gayle – Yes!

Katie – What changes are we going to see at the Gatsby?

Gayle – There’s a lot of changes. There are some things going on with me and Alexa. The salon looks a little different, we added a few more things to the salon to make it look better. There’s so much going on in Season 2.

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend – Well usually…

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Well usually. They aren’t when it comes to Felice Pasquale jewelers in Robbinsville, NJ. (Yes they are part of the Pratico family of jewelers.)

I found a ring at Felice Pasquale’s in June and fell in love with it. I mean loved it. Rachel Zoe would fully agree and think it was “ba-na-na’s”. I inquired about the cost. They gave me a lower price than what they gave my husband when we went in together at a later date to look at it a second time. Plus, they originally told me 3-5 days to size the ring. The owner also said that he made the ring there (in house).

My husband went back prior to my birthday to purchase the ring. When he went in alone the price went up again higher than the last time. So the price changed 3 different times. So much for being consistent. A female salesperson remembered my husband and remembered that they quoted him a certain price which was the original price I was given. He bought the ring and made sure the price included sizing (since that’s typically an additional fee). He left with the ring. Yippee (or so I thought)!

I received the ring on my birthday. I was ecstatic!  I called Felice Pasquale’s immediately to find out when I could get it sized and how long it would take. I was very anxious to get the ring on my finger as I loved it. Have I mentioned I loved it? They then told me 5-7 days (more than what was originally estimated). I kept the ring that day in order to show friends/family and brought it in the following Monday to be sized. When I dropped it off on August 16th they still said 5-7 days to be sized. On the 7th day we called. No ring. I didn’t get the ring back until August 27th. Yes that’s right, it took 2 weeks to get it back from being sized.

Problem is, they didn’t size it properly. I finally got the ring back after waiting longer than I should have but it wasn’t sized correctly. Between everything that had already happened and their not so friendly demeanor (you would think with the economy the way it is people would be friendly and happy for business), I took the ring and was going to take it elsewhere to be sized properly. I brought it home and my husband and I looked at it. Not only did they not size it right, but there was a mark from where they cut it on the bottom of the band and the inside of the bottom was all messed up. It was awful craftsmanship! (Need I remind you they supposedly crafted the ring themselves to begin with.)

So on August 28th we dropped the ring off to our good friends at Daves Jewelers in Hamilton, NJ. They checked the size of the ring and it had been sized to a 7.5 instead of the 8 that it was supposed to be. They promised that they would take good care of my ring, size it correctly and fix the poor craftsmanship that occurred.

It took them 2 weeks to fix all the faults in the ring that occurred from the improper sizing and lousy craftsmanship at Felice Pasquale’s. I received my ring and Daves Jewelers  did an incredible job. I should have gone to them to begin with.

Needless to say I will never shop at Felice Pasquale’s store again. While they might have nice things, they have awful customer service, are overpriced, lie, have poor craftsmanship and more. I suggest you heed my advice and don’t shop there as well.

Are diamonds your best friend? Then head to Daves Jewelers  and you will not be disappointed. They will take good care of you, with their low prices, superb craftsmanship and all with a smile on their face. They are no doubt in my mind the best jeweler in Mercer County.

Delicious Dining at Deanna’s

I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to write about one of our favorite places to eat – Deanna’s in Lambertville, NJ.

If you haven’t been there you are seriously missing out. Deanna, the owner, is in the kitchen day and night cooking up amazing meals for her guests. She makes homemade pasta every day. Not many places can say that. When I tell you her pasta melts in your mouth… ok I’m drooling just thinking about it.

My favorite dish hands down is Deanna’s Pasta with Prosciutto and Peas in Cream Sauce. Again, I’m drooling thinking about it. The pasta melts in your mouth and the cream sauce is not too heavy. The prosciutto is cooked perfectly and sliced super thin. This dish is probably my entire family’s favorite dish as well. At least 2-3 people order it each time we are there. But everything Deanna offers is incredible. Some of our other fave dishes are: Pasta with Arrabiata Sauce (spicy marinara) or the Pasta with Sautéed Chicken and Mushrooms in Gorgonzola Cream Sauce. Another one of my faves is an appetizer that isn’t on the menu but is sometimes offered as a special. It is figs with gorgonzola cheese with a jalapeno honey sauce. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and tangy.

They have a bar in house and I can honestly say they make a mean dirty martini. Deanna’s offers Local Nights on Tuesday & Wednesday where guests may order a prixe fix meal for $20 which includes an appetizer, entrée and dessert.

Deanna’s uses all fresh ingredients and even has a garden on site where she picks fresh herbs. Guests may dine either inside or outside. Often times, the hubs and I will opt to eat our dessert outside after we finish our meal indoors.

The staff is great and if you go there once, they will remember you forever.

So head on over to Deanna’s in Lambertville, you won’t be disappointed.

No More Waxing For Me – Threading Only!

This past Saturday I had my first threading experience at Great Looks 4 Less in Mercer Mall, Princeton, NJ. I have to admit, I was a bit terrified going into it. I’m a huge baby when it comes to getting my eyebrows waxed and had no idea what to expect. Everyone I spoke to about it said it was pain free, plus it lasts forever.

I met the woman who was going to do my eyebrow threading and stressed to her that I was a huge baby and scared. She told me not to worry that it wouldn’t hurt at all. Guess what? It didn’t! In fact it tickled a bit and felt more like a slight brushing against my skin. No hot wax burning or the ripping off and feeling like my skin may or may not come off. This was totally pain free.

I was completely fascinated by the whole process and the woman gave me a mirror so I could watch what she was doing. Basically she had a spool of thread and twisted it around and it would grab each hair and pull it out from the root (almost like plucking). But she goes super fast. I was impressed! It’s an art form.

No more eyebrow waxing for me. From now on it’s threading.
