The Secret To My Great Hair – My Mane Event with Pantene Recap & Giveaway

I’ve got great hair! I used to say that it’s because I’m a Leo and Leo’s are known for their manes. But the truth of the matter is I’ve been using Pantene FOREVER. I mean for as long as I can remember I’ve been using Pantene products. So clearly I owe my amazing, shiny, healthy, luscious locks to them.

So when I was invited by MomTrends to attend a Pantene party I jumped at the chance. One because MomTrends throws the BEST parties and two because I am a walking talking Pantene girl.

The party started off in style as it always does with MomTrends and Pantene is all about style. I was picked up at my Jersey home by a car service and brought into the city to MPE Penthouse (they had the most amazing view of the city).

The night started off with cocktails, appetizers and catching up with blogger friends.

The “mane” event however, was the doctor behind the new AgeDefy and Advanced+ Keratin Repair  line for Pantene. Dr. Jeni Thomas, Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry and P&G’s Beauty and Grooming Principal Scientist, who works on researching the areas of the scalp and hair.

Prior to the event, Pantene had sent all attendees products from their new Age Devy line. Which of course I loved. I’ve been using the Keratin shampoo and conditioner they sent as my hair is fairly straight (sometimes I get a little wave in it). Everyone loves Pantene for the smell but Pantene makes my hair super shiny and healthy. It really is for hair so healthy it shines.

I learned a ton from Dr. Jeni that night including that she works alongside the Olay folks (after all they are both P&G brands) in regards to aging hair and skin. She talked breakage, greys, frizz and more. I even had some one-on-one time with Dr. Jeni and I told her how I noticed my scalp has changed once I hit 30. That I don’t know if it’s truly dandruff I occasionally get versus dry scalp. She said often times when it comes and goes it can be stress related. Interesting! She suggested that I continue to switch between a dandruff shampoo and a regular shampoo.

This of course made me bring up the Pantene Anti-Dandruff shampoo that was discontinued. I had been using that for a while, and then it was discontinued. Last summer I was thrilled when on the Pantene Facebook page we got to vote for what retired item we wanted back and then learned that they all came back. Unfortunately I couldn’t locate the anti-dandruff shampoo anywhere. I mentioned it to Dr. Jeni who introduced me to the nice PR folks and wouldn’t you know…. A week after the event I got a package in the mail. A years’ worth of Pantene Anti-Dandruff shampoo!!!!!! You have no idea how excited I was. Now I can switch between that and the Keratin I love so much also.

There were stylists on hand to create some fun looks with the new line. I opted for beachy waves.

The Echo Design group was there also teaching bloggers how to tie scarves in a multitude of ways. Plus we got one in our swag bag. Yippee!

As you can tell I had a blast that night! And now I’m giving you the opportunity to win some fab Pantene swag for yourself so that you can also have super luscious locks.

Back to School with Lands’ End

On August 4th I attended the Lands’ End Back to School Event in NYC. As always Momtrends organized an amazing event at EZ Studios.

We met in the lobby of the Hilton and headed out to school buses where we received our Night School report card which we would get graded on as we went along.

First stop was Backpack Philosophy where I learned weight safety tips from Dr. Mary Ann Wilmarth of the American Physical Therapy Association. At Lands’ End you can find the perfectly sized backpack for your child’s height and weight.

Lands’ End has durability down to a science. At Pants 101 we were taught about their new invisible  IronKnee™ patch which drastically prolongs your child’s everyday pants.

Guests were also encouraged to Design Your First Day of school outfit.

At Lunchtime, celebrity chef Sam Talbot whipped up some easy lunch recipes that were delish. Pack’em in the Lands’ End MadBox ™ lunch boxes, designed by real kids. How cool is that?

Warren Tricomi was on hand at Hair School and styled us with the hottest hair styles for fall.

We also had the opportunity to take a class photo and get a 5 minute makeover from Revlon. I loved my look so much that I already bought all the Revlon products they used on me at my local CVS.

I passed the Dress Test and chatted with Brittany Gibbons on how to flatter your figure for fall.

Needless to say I passed all my courses Lands’ End Night School. Whew!

And I got my diploma! So it’s totally official.

Congrats to the entire 2012 graduating class of Lands’ End Night School!

Thanks Momtrends & Lands’ End for a fab party! Happy Back to School!

Blogher ’12 – Thursday Recap

Thursday was filled with off-site parties. I did not think I would manage to attend all 3 parties I wanted to, but to my surprise I did it. Woo Hoo!

First stop was the Social Luxe party at Arena NYC. Party goers could get massages, henna tattoos and more at this great event. The Social Luxe Hostesses love to pamper, polish, primp and party!

Vanessa Lachey was there (yes she’s due any minute now) and is an absolute sweetheart. First thing she said to me was she loved my Origami Owl necklace. Even the celebs love Origami Owl!

I learned from Jill Zarin that Real Housewives don’t use rags, they SpotBot it with the BISSELL SpotBot. Another sweetheart and super down to earth. She has some super cool things in the works so stay tuned.

Up next the CAbi Style Suite party at The London Hotel hosted by MomTrends and Savvy Sassy Moms. I got my lips done (no not injections, lipstick application) by Makeup Forever, had a hand and arm massage from the Mama Mio folks, drank a bellini and chatted with the CAbi people about their company. Attendees were able to shop, try on CAbi clothes and walk away with two pieces of their choice. Sweet! Here is what I selected:

My final stop of the night was the Social Soiree party held at Murals on 54 in the Warwick Hotel. Here I chatted with a number of coupon and deal sites like Fat Wallet and Ebates. I also had my first experience with bacon wrapped dates. Where have you been all my life?

I started off the Blogher festivities on a great note with these fab parties. I had the best time and made some amazing connections and new friends.

Getting Honest with Jessica Alba & Christopher Gavigan

Christopher Gavigan, Me, Jessica Alba

This past Tuesday I was invited to the launch event of Honest.com hosted by Mom Trends at ABC Kitchen in NYC. Stay tuned for a post on ABC Kitchen as dinner was amazing.

Jessica Alba & I

The Honest Co. was developed by Jessica Alba and Christopher Gavigan. The event was great and I was able to take a look at their new line and even walk home with some of the products. Both Jessica & Christopher talked to the guests about their new line. I am not a mom but hope to be one day and I truly learned a ton from these two who are both parents.

Jessica Alba talking about The Honest Co.

I found Jessica’s story extremely fascinating. Before she had her baby her and her mom talked a lot and her mom said ok you need to wash the baby clothes now in XYZ detergent because that’s what I used for you and bath the baby in XYZ because you did and it’s tear-free and so on and so forth. So Jessica started preparing and washing her baby clothes in preparation of her new baby when her arm broke out in a rash from the detergent. She knew that if she broke out in a rash who knows what it would do to her baby. She knew she needed to do something and create a product that would be healthy for her baby. After chatting with Christopher Gavigan and a few others, they came up with the concept for The Honest Co. a baby friendly line that was non-toxic, green, affordable and convenient for the busy mom on the go. Oh wait and super stylish! The Honest Co. offers delivery right to your door of the products. Not only do they carry baby products but they also carry cleaning products as well.

Christopher & Jessica

Both Jessica & Christopher were a delight to chat with. On the day I met them Christopher had just announced on Twitter that he and his wife (actress Jessica Capshaw of Grey’s Anatomy) were expecting their third child. When I congratulated him he was giddy with excitement. I can only imagine what an amazing father he is.

Not only were the entire mom’s in attendance at this fab event impressed, but since the launch many celeb moms have been on The Honest Co. bandwagon. Celebrity mom and stylist Rachel Zoe loves this line for her new baby Skylar.

And it’s not just for the babies. It’s for adults too. I have to admit I’m a bit obsessed with the Honest Face & Body Lotion for myself. Most of the products are completely fragrance free but the Shampoo & Body Wash has an amazing sweet orange vanilla fragrance that’s just plain yummy while the Honest Hand Soap smells like organic lemongrass. Oh and the fragrance free Honest Healing Balm is the most amazing moisturizer for your lips. Its my new fave lipbalm.

And if this isn’t reason enough to check out this new line…. Here’s yet another…. They give back! With every purchase you make they give back to the community. Right now they are working with Baby2Baby.
