Best Ingredient Goes to Honey Bunches of Oats!

Wednesday night I had the wonderful opportunity to hang out at the Marina Maher Communications offices in NYC and watch the People’s Choice Awards, sample some amazing food from Honey Bunches of Oats and try the new wine Entwine by the Food Network.

I had such a blast chatting with fellow influencers at the MMC offices and especially chatting it up with the MMC staff. They really have the sweetest gals working for them. (I’m looking at you Samara, Kristen, Taylor & Ashley.)

I love award shows the fashion, beauty and bantar. Who doesn’t? Kristen and I noticed a trend in the mesh sleeves and mesh dresses with lace overlays. The MMC sent around a ballot for us to vote on who we thought would take home each category. Needless to say I think I lost every category.

Honey Bunches of Oats , yes the cereal, had tons of food on hand. Yes I said food! Appetizers, desserts, you name it you can make it with Honey Bunches of Oats. It’s not just for your milk anymore kids. It’s an ingredient!

Here are some of the great recipes you can try at home with Honey Bunches of Oats.

My personal faves were the mousse and the caramel squares. They also had an amazing crabcake with a chipotle sauce at the party that was too die for.

While I may have failed guessing who would win each category of the night I came out a winner because I learned so much about Honey Bunches of Oats.

The Olive Tap – Product Review

One of my favorite things in the world is going to a restaurant where they offer bread and olive oil for dipping before my meal. I especially love it when there is a bunch of spices in the oil.

Enter The Olive Tap.  Recently The Olive Tap contacted me to review their products and how could I say no? Being Italian by marriage I love my oil and vinegar. The Olive Tap sent me a sample of their balsamic vinegar which is amazing. Not super tart. Has a sweeter tone to it. And they sent me the most amazing Tuscan Herb Olive Oil. It is seriously like dipping your bread in those amazing spices I mentioned above but without having to leave your home and there’s no little bits in it. It’s just the oil. It is truly amazing. Every time we’ve had a nice loaf of Italian bread in the house we have been dipping our bread in both the oil and the vinegar.

The Olive Tap has over 50 different olive oils, balsamic vinegars and specialty vinegars, sauces, spices, marinades, they’ve got it all. Including gift baskets! What a great gift this makes! Shop online or visit one of their locations in the US. Did I mention they have recipes? Check out their website for some great recipes using their fab products.

No need to go out to eat to get that amazing oil to dip your bread. Order yours now!

Delicious Dining at Deanna’s

I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to write about one of our favorite places to eat – Deanna’s in Lambertville, NJ.

If you haven’t been there you are seriously missing out. Deanna, the owner, is in the kitchen day and night cooking up amazing meals for her guests. She makes homemade pasta every day. Not many places can say that. When I tell you her pasta melts in your mouth… ok I’m drooling just thinking about it.

My favorite dish hands down is Deanna’s Pasta with Prosciutto and Peas in Cream Sauce. Again, I’m drooling thinking about it. The pasta melts in your mouth and the cream sauce is not too heavy. The prosciutto is cooked perfectly and sliced super thin. This dish is probably my entire family’s favorite dish as well. At least 2-3 people order it each time we are there. But everything Deanna offers is incredible. Some of our other fave dishes are: Pasta with Arrabiata Sauce (spicy marinara) or the Pasta with Sautéed Chicken and Mushrooms in Gorgonzola Cream Sauce. Another one of my faves is an appetizer that isn’t on the menu but is sometimes offered as a special. It is figs with gorgonzola cheese with a jalapeno honey sauce. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and tangy.

They have a bar in house and I can honestly say they make a mean dirty martini. Deanna’s offers Local Nights on Tuesday & Wednesday where guests may order a prixe fix meal for $20 which includes an appetizer, entrée and dessert.

Deanna’s uses all fresh ingredients and even has a garden on site where she picks fresh herbs. Guests may dine either inside or outside. Often times, the hubs and I will opt to eat our dessert outside after we finish our meal indoors.

The staff is great and if you go there once, they will remember you forever.

So head on over to Deanna’s in Lambertville, you won’t be disappointed.

The Princeton Sports Bar & Grill – The New Celebrity Hot Spot

Recently the hubs and I were invited to the Grand Opening and VIP party at The Princeton Sports Bar & Grill. We were thrilled to be invited and be one of the first to check out a new pub in one of our favorite towns, Princeton, NJ.

Many of you may remember The Princeton Sports Bar & Grill as Sotto Ristorante or even The Annex. Boy has it changed. Owner John Procaccini added 15 hi-def flat screen TV’s around the bar, so you will never miss a game. Finally there’s a sports bar in town! It’s the perfect place to grab a drink after work, watch a game and for of-age college students to hang out.

Energy filled the room at the VIP party. Outstanding appetizers were passed around. I especially liked the buffalo shrimp. We also tested out the crab fries with cheese which were delish as well.

Dan the bartender - "The Best Bartender in Mercer County"

While there, I dubbed Dan the bartender as “The Best Bartender in Mercer County”. First of all I must say that Dan makes a mean dirty martini, but what we loved most about him was his personality. Dan was so full of life, what you want your bartender to be. He was personable, fun and mingled with the customers. So often we go out on the town and the bartenders are just miserable and lack a personality. Not Dan! Dan really is the man at The Princeton Sports Bar & Grill.

Besides finding “The Best Bartender in Mercer County”, our night was filled with a few other surprises. We ran into Doug Palmer, former Mayor of Trenton.

Ed Tseng was also there in high spirits signing his book “Game. Set. Life.”

To top the evening off, we chatted it up a bit with famed Princeton professor Dr. Cornel West.

Talk about a party! We had some night out!

So head on over to The Princeton Sports Bar & Grill, tell Dan I sent you. Dress your best, because you never know who you might run into.

Trattoria Dopo Teatro

Recently the hubs and I were visiting the city (New York City that is) and planned to have lunch at Trattoria Dopo Teatro. We did a little research online and this spot was near where we were going to be, the menu looked scrumptious and priced just right.

For an appetizer we ordered the Eggplant Campanada which consisted of eggplant, olives, capers, pine nuts. It was a great mix of sweet and tangy.

For our main course, we shared the Dopo Teatro pizza which is mozzarella, arugula, prosciutto and truffle oil. It was out of this world! My husband and I debated as to whether it was the best pizza we ever had or not. I’ve realized recently that I’m a huge fan of truffle oil.

For dessert we shared the profiteroles, which are similar to a cream puff but instead of cream inside it’s vanilla ice cream with tons of chocolate sauce. They came as a pair, so it was perfect for sharing.

We will definitely go back there again if we are in the area.  I’m dying to go back to try their Gorgonzola e Pere pizza. The ambiance was super cute and you felt like you were in a quaint Italian restaurant in Italy. The servers, the owner and even some customers spoke Italian. It wasn’t over priced and the food was truly spectacular. It’s always fun when you find a hidden gem.
