Beauty, Bullying, Real Housewives of OC Season 8, Family and More with Heather Dubrow – PART 2

PART 2 with Heather Dubrow

Quick 5

ME: Fave junk food treat

HEATHER: Twizzlers (We both agreed Twizzlers beat out Red Vines hands down. We even chatted about biting off the ends of the Twizzlers and using them as straws. You know you’ve done it too.)

ME: All time fave movie

HEATHER: There’s so many. Aside from all the major classics like “The Wizard of Oz”. “Flashdance”, “Ice Castles” any of those girlie, young performance, dance, ice skating, singing type of films.

ME: Fave musical theater song because I know you sing. I was actually a theater major in college.

HEATHER: Really? Where did you go?

ME: I went to Rider in New Jersey. (We chatted briefly about how I ended up not pursuing anything with my theatre degree.)

HEATHER: This is hard.

ME: Ok if you had to go into an audition tomorrow and sing something what would it be?

HEATHER: Trying to think of my old audition songs. I do love “I Don’t Know How To Love Him” from Jesus Christ Superstar.

ME: That’s a good one.

HEATHER: I’d probably audition with something from Les Mis.

ME: I love Les Mis too.

ME: Fave store or brand

HEATHER: I always say Chanel because I love Chanel. But I feel their prices are so out of control right now I’m almost turned off. I’m going to say Valentino.

ME: Fave magazine

HEATHER: I like a bunch of them. I’m gonna say Vogue.

ME: Do you do your own social media?

HEATHER: Yes

ME: What social media site do you love the most? Twitter maybe?

HEATHER: I do like Twitter. I don’t understand Facebook at all. (We then chatted about different media platforms and different sites to help manage accounts.)

HEATHER: The word bullying. Are you on Twitter? Do you follow me on Twitter?

ME: I do!

HEATHER: So you’ve seen all the bullying talk with Alexis because of what happened in Costa Rica. How do you feel about that?

ME: I think she’s ridiculous.

HEATHER: Ok good, ok so you understand. This is what I have to say about it. It is so not appropriate in this context; it’s not applicable in this context to use the word bullying. That’s an incredibly serious statement. It’s a serious issue and to make light of it like that I just think it’s crazy. We are all cognizant that we are on the show to show our relationships and be vocal about our opinions of the other cast members. If you have filters, you have to take those filters out. This is what the show is about. It’s allowing the audience to get into our brain and say what they want to say and hear what they want to hear. The realness of it. This is Alexis’s 3rd season, she’s very aware. She’s very aware of how it works. I think it’s really easy when things get turned on you and it makes you uncomfortable and it hits too close to home to run to your corner and cry victim. But I don’t think it’s fair and I think it’s an easy out.

ME: I agree.

HEATHER: She and I had gone back and forth and back and forth on Twitter. I’m tired of the name calling and whatever. I actually have no ill feelings towards her. We had some very nice times together. I think it’s unfortunate how things happen. We had a really nice conversation after the reunion in the parking lot. We hugged and sort of apologized to each other for the misconceptions and some issues and whatever. We hugged. We texted each other. So I thought, ok great, maybe not best friends but we can accept each other. But then 2 days later she gave a really rude interview about me in the press and I thought ok well there you go.

ME: I think she’s just unhappy with herself and that’s the big problem.

HEATHER: Yea know what you could be right. As far as I’m concerned, her chapter’s closed. I wish her and her family well. I have no ill feelings towards them.  She’s not a bad person. I hope she’s happy in her life.

Back to School with Lands’ End

On August 4th I attended the Lands’ End Back to School Event in NYC. As always Momtrends organized an amazing event at EZ Studios.

We met in the lobby of the Hilton and headed out to school buses where we received our Night School report card which we would get graded on as we went along.

First stop was Backpack Philosophy where I learned weight safety tips from Dr. Mary Ann Wilmarth of the American Physical Therapy Association. At Lands’ End you can find the perfectly sized backpack for your child’s height and weight.

Lands’ End has durability down to a science. At Pants 101 we were taught about their new invisible  IronKnee™ patch which drastically prolongs your child’s everyday pants.

Guests were also encouraged to Design Your First Day of school outfit.

At Lunchtime, celebrity chef Sam Talbot whipped up some easy lunch recipes that were delish. Pack’em in the Lands’ End MadBox ™ lunch boxes, designed by real kids. How cool is that?

Warren Tricomi was on hand at Hair School and styled us with the hottest hair styles for fall.

We also had the opportunity to take a class photo and get a 5 minute makeover from Revlon. I loved my look so much that I already bought all the Revlon products they used on me at my local CVS.

I passed the Dress Test and chatted with Brittany Gibbons on how to flatter your figure for fall.

Needless to say I passed all my courses Lands’ End Night School. Whew!

And I got my diploma! So it’s totally official.

Congrats to the entire 2012 graduating class of Lands’ End Night School!

Thanks Momtrends & Lands’ End for a fab party! Happy Back to School!

Saturday Blogher ’12 Recap

Had a wonderful breakfast and made some new friends (that’s the point right?). Got to meet Elly from Buggin Word. If you didn’t meet her you have to hunt her down next year in Chicago. She’s a blast. And she plays the ukulele!

My day of course consisted of walking around the expo space but I also attended some pretty amazing seminars.

I attended Katie Couric’s keynote luncheon and learned all about her new show “Katie” coming September 10th. Trust me this is a show you won’t want to miss. I love how the new show is going to be very women focused as well as social media focused. Katie is also going to be featuring bloggers at each show. Love that! Check out her keynote HERE!

Some of my fave brands:

Duck – You know the Duck Rape folks! Check out there booth! Amazing what you can do with duck tape.

Zicam – Made my own bracelet with charms which I thought was super cute and a nice little remembrance. I took a charm that said “I Love to Blog”. Appropriate right? Can’t wait to try out Zicam next time I feel a cold coming on.

Hershey’s/Wal-Mart S’mores suite – Ok I loved it 2 years ago and loved it again. I mean if you don’t love S’mores there’s seriously something wrong with you. Trivia – The first printed record of the S’mores recipe appeared in a Girl Scout handbook in 1927.

Starbucks – We were among the first to check out the new Starbuck’s Verismo which is not even in stores yet. It’s a super-convenient, single-cup machine for making espresso-based beverages at home. And it’s coming in late 2012 – just in time to be a splendid gift to you or a coffee lover you know.

Kiss & Broadway Nails – As you know from my previous post I love Kiss & Broadway. This time I got to try out the Nail Dress products which I was super excited about. You put on the adhesive nail color and it goes on over your nail. Then you file your nails so that it fits the shape of your nail perfectly. They come in some really cool colors/patterns, even leopard.

They hubby and I grabbed food from The Halal guys because I had been dying to try them. It was delish!

Then I headed to the Land’s End party off-site.

Came back to the Hilton and attended the first ever Blogher Fashion Show. Click HERE to watch a recap.

Headed to the Cheeseburger Party, followed by a goodbye cocktail with my new friends Debbie & Heather.

As you can tell I had a blast at Blogher ’12. What a whirlwind! Can’t wait til next year!

Blogher ’12 – Saturday Style
