Piscataway Welcomes Massage Envy

Guess who just opened up in Piscataway, NJ? Massage Envy!

I am a huge believer in massage and think everyone should get them on a regular basis. Facials too (although I’m not the best at getting them on a regular basis). So when I heard that a Massage Envy was moving into my town I was super excited. Getting a massage on a regular basis (at least once a month) is so good for you. It’s not only good for your body and makes you feel good, but its good for you mentally. It helps with stress and anxiety as well as your physical pains.

I made an appointment with Keisha for a relaxing massage. When I arrived I was greeted by the front desk and I filled out some paperwork. Then one of the ladies at the front desk sat down with me to review the paperwork and find out my problem areas and explain how my experience would be. Keisha came out and we walked into the back and she asked me my problem areas. I always have issues with my scapula and near my shoulder blades. Probably from being at a computer and using my phone all day. There was a large poster on the wall of the body so she marked on it with the spots that were bothering me. Keisha did a great job and it was definitely a very relaxing massage.

After chatting with the salon manager she invited me back to do a face scan. Which I will admit I was terrified of. The machine wasn’t in the office that day which is why I scheduled an appointment to go back.

When I came back I met with Briana. She brought me back and had me sit down at a machine. Then I put my chin in and WOW you see EVERYTHING! It’s like a black light and there’s a mirror so I was able to see all the spots as well as her. This girl needs some eye cream STAT! My under eyes were super dry. That was the worst of it. Other than that it was better than I had anticipated but when I looked in the device under my eyes were just bags of dark purple and was a little freaky. But I’m glad I did it because now I know I need to use eye cream every day. I’ve been a religious moisturizer user for years but have never really used eye cream much.

Comment below and tell me if you get massages or facials regularly.

Also, what eye cream must I start using?

Musings of Living in a Hotel for 6 Weeks – Embassy Suites

What do you do when you are going to undergo major home renovations? Where do you live? We crossed that path last October when we decided to move into my dad’s house after he passed away. The house needed a lot of work and since it wasn’t going to be worked on until the winter and we lived an hour away we thought it best to find a place to live nearby. We really just needed a place to shower until one bathroom was done. This way we were close and could be at the house daily but also not have to deal with the daily drive, weather, etc. We researched a number of places in the Piscataway, NJ area and found the Embassy Suites on Centennial Avenue in Piscataway.

How perfect would it be to have a separate bedroom and living area since we were going to be living there 6 weeks? My hubby and I went there to take a tour of the hotel as well as check out their rooms. We knew it was the place. Plus, since we were going to be staying more than 30 days we also got a special deal. Oh and free breakfast? Yes! Count me in!

So for the next 6 weeks we lived in a hotel. Which sounds crazy I know. And it was, kind of. Because I mean who lives in a hotel? My hubby kept calling himself Royal Tenenbaum. But it was so close to where we needed to be and it really was like our home. We got to know everyone that worked there over our stay. Every person we met and got to know was nicer than the next. We especially got to know the staff at breakfast (they have a great cooked to order breakfast daily) Agnes, Hernando, Margot as well as the all the bartenders Carlos, Tyrell and Wendy. And you can’t forget Sue the waitress in the bar area.  Every night we both received a free cocktail (which if you knew about all we went with in our renovations you know we needed it) and snacks as part of their daily evening managers reception. Our room was always spotless but we always knew when Emma cleaned it. She took care of little details, plus used Fabuloso which smelled so good. For Valentine’s Day she made us a heart out of a napkin and left Valentine’s Day candies. I learned that not all hotels have bad food. My past experiences with hotel food have not been so hot. Seriously… this hotel has the most amazing French Onion soup ever. In fact, all their food is really good. And trust me we tried everything! The portions are huge and enough to share. I also learned that if I purchase food or drink I should charge it all to my room because I will earn extra points. Were if I just charged it I wouldn’t get anything. But as a Hilton Honors member I get extra points any time I charge to my room. Done and done.

The Embassy Suites really was our home away from home. We were treated like family. Every day we were greeted by staff. They might have been thinking oh here are those crazy people just living in a hotel. But we came to find out a number of people actually lived there. Mainly during the week because they worked at a nearby company but some for years. We got to know the other people that stayed there as well.

We eventually moved into our house but when it came time to have our floors redone we needed to move out again and guess where we went? Of course! We didn’t want to deal with the smells, chemicals from the floors so we moved on back to the good ole’ Embassy Suites. Everyone was so excited to see us (or at least they made us feel that way).

I’m happy to report that we are all settled in at our home now and couldn’t be happier. Although I am craving some French Onion soup so I think we may have to run over to our old stomping grounds.

Get Fresh with Minted

Did you know that Minted, the folks behind the awesome save the dates and cards also do art prints and gifts? I had no idea. As a new homeowner I’ve been spending many a day searching for awesome décor for my home. Plus I have a long list of every type of party I want to have which will obviously mean invites and of course a “We’ve Moved” announcement.

I absolutely love this print of purple irises. The lovely purple iris is the flower of Delta Phi Epsilon which is my sorority. This print would be perfect in my new office or dining room. I’m painting the dining room a rich purple and my office a medium grey.

MIN-EZ5-GNA-007B_A_CP This print reminds me of a stack of books? What does it remind you of? This print would also be a great addition to an office or a library.MIN-UFS-GNA-007_A_APZ Check out more of their art collection HERE.

Now…. these 2 are my absolute favorite prints. I am a Jersey Girl born and raised. Us Jersey Girls are very proud of where we came from so of course these two prints are a must for my home. I especially love this first one as you are able to incorporate your own photos into it in the shape of your state. How cute is this?

Last but not least they have an amazing assortment of cards, save the dates, thank you’s, the list goes on. With all the party ideas I have for our new home I will need a ton. First things first we will need to send announcements to everyone that we have moved. I’m still debating if I want to put a photo of our house on the announcement or not or just have everyone see it for the first time when the come over.

The Bachelor Season 19 Spoiler

If you know me you know I’m obsessed with all things reality tv. The Bachelor is no exception. I’ve been watching since Season 1. I absolutely loved Chris Soules last season with Andi and was so excited for this seasons premiere. (Sidebar it did not disappoint.)

That being said I noticed that one of the contestants Alissa Giambrone is from my hometown Hamilton, NJ. I was thrilled! I immediately started cheering her on (even though the second Britt walked out of the limo I felt she would be in the final 2).

I wanted to learn a little more about my hometown girl Alissa so I took to social media.

Spoilers beware!

Yes Alissa is a flight attendant. She works at Frontier Airlines which is a fairly new airline here in Mercer County. Why is this important? Frontier Airlines out of Trenton does not fly to Prague or Paris.

But Alissa did! 4 weeks ago she was in Prague. 8 weeks ago she was in Paris. Frontier does fly to Miami which seems to be her flight path typically so her Instagram shows lots of Miami pics. But Prague and Paris stood out to me. Ironic? Maybe.

My thoughts… Alissa is going to make it pretty far. She will make it to at least Prague and Paris. I’m really surprised The Bachelor folks didn’t make her take down her Instagram shots as they are clearly spoilers.

Why You Need The Flu Shot This Year – CVS MinuteClinic

cvsflushotsxc

Every year my hubby and I get our annual flu shot. And every year my anxiety is through the roof before I go. Ever since I was a little kid I was horrible at getting shots. I think I’m getting a little better as I get older and not AS crazy about it. Blood work on the other hand… well that’s another story all together.

We normally head to Plainsboro, NJ because that was always our closest CVS MinuteClinic. That is until a few weeks ago. I was so excited to learn that one of my local CVS’s built a MinuteClinic. If you are in the Mercer County area there is now a CVS MinuteClinic in Lawrenceville, NJ right off Route 1.

Normally I’ve had to wait a few minutes before getting my annual shot at CVS but not this time. We walked in, headed to the back and we were the first ones there. Annie Wood was the nurse on duty and was soooo nice. I told her how I hate shots and she said I would be fine. I decided to go first and I sat down and it was over. I didn’t feel a thing. Honest to God. Nada! I said I don’t think you gave me the shot and she said she did and my husband watched. Best. Shot. Ever. Thanks Annie!

Have you gotten your flu shot yet? No? What are you waiting for?

Now is the time to get your shot. Flu outbreaks can start to begin in October, however they typically peak in January or later.

Worried your insurance won’t cover it? Most insurance companies will cover the cost of a flu shot. Hey, they don’t want you getting sick either.

And get this… customers that get their flu shot at CVS will receive a 20% off shopping coupon. Woo Hoo!

While getting a flu shot is the single most effective way to prevent getting the flu, you still want to take other precautions during the fall/winter. Plus you don’t want a cold either. Keep those hands washed constantly, always cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue (not your hand), stay away from sick people as best you can and avoid touching your face.

Now head on over to your local CVS MinuteClinic for your flu shot. In Mercer County? Head to the new one in Lawrenceville and ask for Annie. Tell her I sent you.

*The thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own. CVS MinuteClinic provided me with the flu shots and a gift card which was super nice of them. Just another reason why I love CVS.
